As a factory medical doctor with MBBS, AFIH, and PGDEOH qualifications, my initial focus was primarily on Occupational Health. While I could diagnose and treat work-related illnesses, I often felt limited in my ability to proactively prevent them. That’s when I turned to OHTA. I began OHTA’s internationally structured training journey while working in the manufacturing sector. Over the course of one year, I successfully completed six modules — 501 (Measurement of Hazardous Substances), 502 (Thermal Environment), 503 (Noise – Measurement and Its Effects), 505 (Control of Hazardous Substances), 506 (Ergonomics Essentials), and 507 (Health Effects of Hazardous Substances). I was proud to earn the ICertOHTA certification, a major milestone that transformed my understanding of workplace health risks. This training redefined my professional path. I evolved from being just a healer to someone who can also assess, control, and prevent occupational hazards using scientific methods: “Now, I not only heal — I prevent.”
OHTA’s practical and globally standardized approach helped me apply this knowledge across various industrial settings. It enabled me to understand and address challenges like thermal stress, noise, dust exposure, and ergonomic risks — common but often under-recognized hazards in high-risk work environments. These modules gave me the clarity and confidence to implement meaningful health and safety improvements at the ground level. Moreover, OHTA has become a strong foundation for my ongoing CIH (Certified Industrial Hygienist) preparation. The in-depth technical knowledge and structured learning approach closely align with CIH competencies, making my preparation more focused and effective. My long-term goal is to become a global voice in Occupational Health and Industrial Hygiene, advocating for safer workplaces and stronger preventive strategies worldwide. I am grateful to OHTA for shaping my journey and empowering professionals like me to make a meaningful impact.
