Occupational Hygiene Certification
The certification credential is the highest available technical competency credential for an occupational/industrial hygiene (OH/IH) professional. It is internationally recognised as a measure of excellence and signifies a certain level of competence and specialized knowledge and skills. The credential holder has been assessed and verified on their level of education, years of experience, and by examination.
Certification is conducted by many national association members of the International Occupational Hygiene Association, IOHA, https://ioha.net/. The national associations which have been recognised by IOHA are members of the National Accreditation Recognition Committee (NARC). The NARC members can be found on the IOHA website, https://ioha.net/national-accreditation-recognition-nar/
The OHTA is not a credentialling organisation. The ICertOHTA international qualification is a stepping stone to a full OH/IH certification and the courses are recognised by the IOHA NAR Committee as providing professional OH/IH knowledge and technical skills appropriate for certification candidates. It is important when you are setting your career pathway to become a certified occupational hygienist that you check with your national association or credentialling organization (BGC, https://gobgc.org/, and JIHO, https://jihoweb.org/) as to their criteria for eligibility https://ioha.net/occupational-hygiene-certification/.
