The OHTA international training process offers several affordable ways to access self-directed, asynchronous, online learning. This is a good choice for people who want to study independently at their own pace.

Awareness Level Courses

 
A general introduction to safety and occupational hygiene for workers and supervisors who are involved in or interested in the protection of workers and themselves from workplace hazards.

This self-directed, asynchronous, online course will familiarise you with occupational health and safety hazards and their control, helping you to develop the skills necessary to proactively recognize hazards and potential solutions in your workplace.

An Awareness level course, it does not lead to an OHTA or other certification.

Topics include chemical hazards, occupational disease, bloodborne pathogens, noise and hearing loss prevention, heat stress, electrical safety, fire hazards, confined space entry, compressed gas, ergonomics, introduction to PPE, respiratory protection and situational awareness.

Foundation Level Courses

 
An introduction to occupational hygiene for those new to the subject, health and safety professionals, occupational health specialists, and other industry specialists who want a broader understanding of how their role interfaces with health issues in the workplace.

Based on materials from the OHTA W201 module, this self-directed, asynchronous, online course provides an introduction to the broad principles in occupational hygiene as the basis for anticipation, recognition, evaluation and control of hazards that can be encountered in the workplace.

To complete this Foundation level course, you must pass an assessment.

The course has been developed by AIHA with the support and guidance of OHTA.
