OHTA 502 explores the principles and practices involved in assessing and managing thermal environments in the workplace. The course focuses on understanding how heat and cold affect worker comfort, performance, and health — and how to evaluate and control these conditions effectively.

  • Measurement of thermal comfort parameters (air temperature, humidity, air speed, radiant heat)

  • Use of indices such as WBGT (Wet Bulb Globe Temperature) and PMV/PPD

  • Heat and cold stress prevention strategies

  • Control measures, including engineering, administrative, and personal protective approaches
