Hygienist Donates $2500 to OHTA from Auction of 3M Apron at AIOH

OHlearning was the beneficiary of great generosity during the Australian Institute of Occupational Hygienists (AIOH) Annual Conference, held in Adelaide, South Australia from the 1st to the 5th of December 2012.

The AIOH Conference runs for five days with two days of continuing educations sessions followed by a further two and a half days of keynotes, plenaries, roundtables and concurrent sessions. The 2012 theme was Meeting Global Challenges.

A feature of AIOH Conferences is the balance of scientific and social functions. One great event is a themed fun evening on the Monday night of the conference sponsored by 3M. This year the theme was the `wide world of sports’ with many interesting costumes – it is always a great night.

3M donate specifically designed aprons as prizes for various competitions during the evening but also auction one apron with the money from the highest bidder going to the charity of choice. In 2011 Dave Zalk was the highest bidder and generously donated the money to OH Learning.

This year a young hygienist, Ms Holly Fletcher bid A$2500 for an apron and has donated this to OHlearning.com. It is an extraordinarily generous gesture. Holly is a consultant mainly working in the mining industry and a graduate of the University of Wollongong Masters Course. Holly is also on the organising Committee for the next AIOH Conference to be held in Sydney in the first week of December 2013.

OH Learning are very grateful from both Dave’s and Holly’s generous donations. The Leadership Group is currently considering using this donation for a specific project
